Dijabringabeeralong Pub

Description

My first finished illustration from Terry Pratchett's The Last Continent; the town pub in Dijabringabeeralong, Fourecks.

Good grief, this took me ages! There are still a lot of things I'd like to refine or change, but this'll do for now, no worries.

I didn't actually go back and reread this passage before doing this, so I've probably put some incorrect things in there, but I tried to fill it with as much other random Australiana as possible, from my limited knowledge of Australian country pubs (which tells me that folk-singers are mandatory). I liked the book's description of the animals in the pub too, so I tried to include some of the well-known ones, including my favourite, the Tassie Tiger. If you zoom in, the picture of the kangaroo on the ROOBEER poster is grinning evilly at Rincewind. It still doesn't feel as dusty and crowded and hot and smelling-of-beer as I would like, but other than that I'm quite happy with the outcome :)

Comments/criticisms/suggestions welcome! I'm intending to do as many illustrations from the novel as I can get around to, and am interested in everyone's opinion on this type of style - not that they need to be all in this style (which is what I consider my deafult), but some consistency in the look of it would be nice!

Inked in Toonboom (ah, my dearest vector - I will never ink anything in PS again, Hurrah!), and coloured in Photoshop.

Note: Big Picture, but please view full-size if you want to see all the little bits of detail!

Discworld content belongs to Terry Pratchett, art by me.

[EDIT: I buggered up, and originally had this titled 'Bugarup Pub'. In glancing through the chapter again however, to my horror, I realised I had mixed the town names up. SHAME.]

I love the way you give shape to the postures and the facial expressions of the figures. Excellent work :)
